Short-seller

Short-seller : who borrow shares and sell them in the hope of buying them back at a lower price to make a profit.

EX : Stock market regulators across the world, led by Britain and the United States, have introduced curbs on short-sellers.

EX : The Securities and Exchange Commission today took several coordinated actions to strengthen investor protections against "naked" short selling. But on Wall Street, professional short-sellers said they were being unfairly targeted by the SEC's prohibition.

EX : The regulators blamed short-sellers for the rapid decline last week in the share prices of major banks like Morgan Stanley.
